Britta Raci Won't Give Up: Indie pop artist Britta Raci told us about her love for a Postal Service gem.
(Sub-Pop)
Britta Raci: People are usually surprised to find out that my all time favorite album was released in 2003 by a group who no longer exists, and only ever put out one album.
If I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life, it would be Give Up by The Postal Service due to the album’s lyrical brilliance paired with its sweet melodies.
This album holds meaning to me because my dad and I listened to it frequently together, but it began to hold new meaning to me as I became older.
With most of my own songs pertaining to heartbreak and unsuccessful relationships, I can easily say Give Up has some of the most poetic ways of talking about failed love. I don’t think a more beautiful line can be written about an ending relationship than “would someone please call a surgeon who can crack my ribs and repair this broken heart that you’re deserting for better company?”
It’s a beautifully crafted indie electronic album that I’d recommend to anybody who loves songs that tell stories.
Britta Raci Won't Give Up: Britta Raci's single "embarrassing" is out September 29.
