On Saturday, historic L.A. hip-hop label Delicious Vinyl will host the second installment of its all-star DJ workshop series at its recently opened Hollywood retail/gallery space Freak City. January's inaugural session featured Fat Lip of The Pharcyde alongside a lesser-known member of the Beat Junkies crew (Icy Ice) and KDAY old-schooler Tony G — an impressive lineup to be sure, but this month's event raises the bar considerably.
Headlining –sort of — the evening will be legendary scratch DJ and producer Cut Chemist. You may remember him from such cultural institutions as Jurassic 5, Ozomatli, and Juno (pictured to the right). He's set to “talk technique” as well as showcase a visual collaboration with something called Pimpadelic Wonderland. Also in the house is ex-N.W.A. member/L.A. electro pioneer Arabian Prince. KDAY dude Tony G and M.Walk round out the afternoon, which is described thusly:
The All Star Workshop will be a forum for DJs, musicians and engineers to come together and share new techniques and ideas. Participants will be encouraged to showcase techniques, secrets, tweaks and collaborate whenever possible.
Specifics, including flier and RSVP info, after the jump.
Again, the event is 100 percent free, but you'll need to RSVP quickly to reserve a spot. You can do that by emailing info@rephlektorink.com.
The schedule for the day:
3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. M.Walk
3:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Arabian Prince
4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Tony G
5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Cut Chemist

Freak City, which is owned by Delicious Vinyl, is located at 6613 Sunset Boulevard. West Coast Sound will be there drinking Zico, so say hello.
