Eating good Mexican food does not have to be limited to Mexico. Texas, California, Arizona, and Nevada all boast some of the best Mexican cuisine in the world. Each region puts its own spin on quintessential Mexican dishes, adding a unique flavor to classics like the street taco, margarita, churro, and more.
GuacAmigos, the “it-restaurant” in Newport Beach frequented by local celebrities like the LA Chargers, boasts Mexican food like none other. The restaurant’s extensive menu, with variations for Happy Hour, Taco & Tequila Tuesday, and weekend brunch ensures something for everyone.
Located right on the Newport Beach marina, GuacAmigos boasts a panoramic view of the ocean from all angles of the restaurant. The Bayside Bloody Maria, as advertised by the name, is the perfect accompaniment for watching sailboats, rentable Duffy boats, and yachts float by. And, on Fridays and Saturdays, patrons enjoy live DJing that completes the oceanfront vibe.
Nicole Dahm Kelly and Tony Hawk, two unlikely celebs, are the minds behind the dazzling oceanfront cantina, which boasts the best view of Newport Harbor. The Dahm Triplet and former Playmate used her tastes to decorate the restaurant with a red chili wall, and incorporate interesting textiles and prints throughout the restaurant. As for Hawk, he used GuacAmigos’s walls to display sports memorabilia, much like a personal Smithsonian.
Happy Hour offers a wide variety of classic small plates like Chicken Tinga Taquitos, accompanied by a Sriracha aioli. Eat and enjoy a spectacular California sunset over the harbor. Taco & Tequila Tuesday, as the name suggests, is a Tuesday special boasting $5 street tacos- choose from pulled pork carnitas, juicy chicken, and ground beef. And, who can forget weekend brunch essentials like mimosas? A vacation staple, GuacAmigos weekend brunch menu houses dishes not found on any other day of the week.
GuacAmigos gives authentic Mexican food a run for its money. Their complimentary fresh tortilla chips, topped with zesty chili-like powder, set the scene for the meal on its way. The chicken fajitas and fish tacos, two popular entrées, just burst with flavor from the tenderly cooked meat and carefully prepared spices. GuacAmigos patrons always return for more flavor.
California natives- tourists, locals, celebrities, and students (UC Irvine is just 7 minutes away), all frequent the Mexicali spot on the Newport Pier for the high energy, beachfront vibe, and of course, the best Mexican food outside of Mexico.
