ARLINGTON, TX (December 30, 2024) – Kiara Valdez and Jahlil Kirkland were killed Sunday, and Nathan Vaughan was arrested after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on East Lamar Boulevard.
The incident occurred on December 15th at the intersection of East Lamar Boulevard and Corporate Drive.
According to reports, 33-year-old Vaughan was driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu when he veered off the road onto the sidewalk, striking pedestrians Valdez and Kirkland. First responders found both pedestrians unresponsive on the roadway.
Despite their efforts, 23-year-old Valdez and 22-year-old Kirkland were pronounced dead at the scene. After the collision, Vaughan fled without providing assistance or notifying authorities.
Fortunately, a witness spotted the vehicle and alerted police. During the investigation, Vaughan cooperated and claimed he believed he had hit a light pole.
Police arrested Vaughan and booked him into the Arlington City Jail before transferring him to Tarrant County Jail, where he faced charges including two counts of hit-and-run resulting in death.
No further information about the crash is available at this time, but authorities plan to release updates as they become available.
