23-Year-Old San Jose Man Pronounced Dead after Sedan vs Scooter Collision near Taylor Street

SAN JOSE, CA (June 27th, 2024) – One man died early Friday morning, in a scooter crash on northbound Highway 87.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m., near Taylor Street.

Investigators say the driver of a 2021 Tesla sedan struck a person riding a scooter. First responders found the rider of the Lime scooter on the highway with severe injuries.

Medical responders pronounced the 23-year-old San Jose man dead at the scene, due to the extent of injuries sustained. The 24-year-old Tesla driver from Elk Grove was unharmed.

After initial investigations, no arrests were made. San Jose officials are urging anyone who witnessed the fatal scooter accident on Highway 87 to contact their offices promptly.
