Man Killed, Ten Injured in Boating Accident in Alamitos Bay [Long Beach, CA]

One Dead, Several Others Hospitalized after Pleasure Craft Crash in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (July 8, 2024) – One man died Wednesday night, and ten others were hospitalized after a boating accident in Alamitos Bay.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., in the area of the Los Alamitos Bay jetty.

Police officers say a 48-foot pleasure craft carrying 11 passengers collided with several rocks.

The impact caused the boat to overturn and begin taking on water. Emergency responders declared a man, estimated to be in his 40s or 50s, dead at the scene.

Paramedics transported the other 10 passengers to a hospital, with seven in stable condition and three in critical condition.

US Coast Guard Richard Uranga stated that speed appeared to be the primary factor in the crash.

The team at Sweet James sends out their heartfelt sympathies to the friends and family of the deceased man who are grieving over the loss of their loved one.
