BRENHAM, TX (February 11, 2025) – Friday morning, a semi-truck collision on Highway 290 claimed the life of Matthew Taing.
Authorities responded to the scene around 6:00 a.m., near Berlin Road on January 31st.
According to reports, 22-year-old Tiang was driving a 2019 Toyota Camry and was stopped at North Berlin Road. Tiang then attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 290.
However, Tiang failed to yield the right-of-way to a 1998 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling westbound, and the two vehicles collided.
As a result, Tiang suffered critical injuries which he later succumbed to.
Meanwhile, the Freightliner driver did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
Troopers blocked Highway 290 while they cleared the wreck. All lanes were reopened by 1:15 p.m.
Law enforcement has not disclosed any further details about the crash to the public at this time; however, they will do so once more information is obtainable.
