Mayor Race: Bass Gains Ground On Caruso In Ballot Update

With ballots in Los Angeles still being counted, the latest update showed Karen Bass gaining ground on Rick Caruso in the race for mayor.
The Thursday afternoon update from the county registrar's office showed Caruso with 273,941 votes (50.25%) and Bass with 271,246 (49.75%), a difference of 2,695 votes in the Los Angeles mayor category.
On Wednesday morning, which was the previous time an update was given, Caruso held a lead of more than 12,000 votes for a less than 3% difference that was too close to call.

"We feel great about the numbers so far," Bass posted to her Instagram account Wednesday. "As we await the next rounds of updates, know that we're already rolling up our sleeves to launch urgent solutions for homelessness, public safety and affordability."
As Caruso awaits final vote counts, he posted a promotional video to his Instagram account Thursday, alluding to bringing change to Los Angeles.
"This election has always been about those left behind and unheard," Caruso wrote on the caption for the video. "I hear you and change will happen."

To this point, the race has been too close to call, and the has been no timetable for all ballots to be counted and final results to be released to the public.
