Street Stomperz, a nonprofit organization in its nascent stages led by April Cash, aims to protect youth from gang involvement and guide them toward a positive, productive future. Inspired by personal experience, April founded this nonprofit after her third child became affiliated with a gang, leading her to reflect on the impact of community and support on young lives.

April Cash’s journey to establishing Street Stomperz began with a heartbreaking realization – her third child had become a gang affiliate. I was completely heartbroken,” April recalls. This painful experience prompted deep reflection and eventually led to the birth of Street Stomperz. I needed to create something that would be a safe place for them to go, to keep them on a path where they can graduate high school and avoid the mistakes that can lead them astray.”
The organization’s focus is clear: prevention. By reaching kids as young as 11, Street Stomperz aims to provide a positive alternative to gang life. From eleven to seventeen, those are the critical years when bad decisions are made,” this visionary explains. April believes that intervening at this critical age can prevent future gang involvement and reduce high school dropout rates. The organization offers a homelike environment where kids can engage in positive activities, from sports to growing their own food.
As Street Stomperz begins to build momentum, the need for such an organization is more apparent than ever. In today’s world, where technology often serves as a substitute for real interaction and support, the organization offers a vital alternative. April reflects on the changing landscape, noting that screen time has become the norm, leaving little room for outdoor activities and genuine connection. I want to change that. These kids need to feel heard, validated, and supported. They need a place where they can be themselves without judgment.”
The center will provide various amenities – gaming rooms, a TikTok shop room for creative expression, and mainly college application assistance – all free of charge. The organization will also provide 24-hour emotional support lines and free transportation, ensuring that every child has access to the resources they need, regardless of their circumstances.
April emphasizes that while prevention is the priority, Street Stomperz will also offer rehabilitation programs – though these will be kept separate from the preventive services to avoid any negative influence on at-risk youth.
Street Stomperz aims to reach out to schools and communities, encouraging children to join on their own volition. For those brought in by parents, there will be a seven-day trial period to ensure they feel comfortable in the program.
April believes that every child deserves a chance to thrive, and with the right guidance and support, the organization can make a lasting difference in their lives. We’re giving these kids the opportunity to grow, learn, and become the future leaders of our society,” April says. It’s about teaching them to trust, love, and forgive, and most importantly, showing them that they’re not alone.”
As the organization continues to develop, April is determined to create an impact, breaking the cycle of gang involvement and giving kids the opportunity to succeed. These kids are our future,” April concludes. We need to invest in them now – before it’s too late.”
